Presentations for Schools and Collages
          1) DRUG AWARENESS
          Objectives-   Know what a life of a chaotic drug user is like.

                                       Recognize the positives and negatives of drug use

                                       Realize who the victims of drug use are.

                                       Understand the risk involved with a substance misuse lifestyle 

                                       Know the effects of drugs.

                                       Recognise the risk involved with taking each drug.

                                       Understand the reasons people use drugs.

                                       Know the slangs names for each drug.                 
  2) DRUGS IN THE COMMUNITY
 
   Objectives- The learner will be able to distinguish the positives and negatives of drug dealing
                       and realise the risk involved.
                       Understand how drugs affect their community and know who the victims are.
 
   3) SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES

    

    Objectives- Recognize the similarities and differences between different drugs.

                        Know the positives and negatives of using different drugs.
 
These presenations can be changed accordingly
 to suit the learners.

Personal, Social, and Health Education
(PSHE)

Each pupil should receive a broad and balanced curriculum which: promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of the society and prepares pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. (Section 351, Education Act, 1996) 

Drug education is part of this curriculum. There is a statutory requirement for drug education in the National Curriculum Science Order, 2000 (see www.nc.uk.net)

Pupils say they want: (Section 2.2 Drugs: Guidance for schools)

1.      Drug education to be interesting, involving drama, true-life stories and external contributors.

2.      To be taught by people who know what they are talking about.

3.      As much information as possible, they do not want to be told just say no

4.      To know the range of effects of drugs, including real dangers, and how to cope with an emergency.

5.      To engage in discussion and debate.

The D.I.C.E. Programme recognizes the need for the real life impact within drug education.

Real life stories of young people whose lives have been destroyed by drugs should play a part in teaching and learning approaches (section 2.10 Drugs: Guidance for schools)

1.3    Explain the differences between drug free and drug lifestyles.

2.  Understand the positive and negative consequences of a drug dealers lifestyle. 2.1    List the positive consequences of a drug dealers lifestyle.

2.2    List the negative consequences of a drug dealers lifestyle.

2.3    Explain the differences between drug dealing and non-drug dealing lifestyles.

3.  Demonstrate an understanding of the victims of drug lifestyles. 3.1   List the victims of drug lifestyles.

3.2   Explain the reasons how different people are the victims of drugs.

4.  Know what a typical day of a chaotic drug user is like. 4.1   Explain how a chaotic drug user may fund their addiction.

4.2   Describe a typical day of a chaotic drug user.

5.  Have a basic understanding of the effects drugs have on body functions and recognize the risk involved with taking each drug. 5.1   Explain some of the dangers of using drugs.

5.2   Describe the effects that some drugs have on body functions.

5.3   Explain the risk involved with drugs that have been mixed.

6.  Explain the risk involved with drugs that have been mixed. 6.1   List 5 positives and 5 negatives about 3 different drugs.

6.2   Explain the main positives.

6.3   Explain the main negatives
